Autumn Blues.......?
5 Ways To Survive The Season Change
by Chief Yogi of Birmingham Zoe Woodward
Darker mornings, leaves turning brown, Autumn is firmly here and we've cruising at full speed towards winter! If like us you find yourself wanting to hit the snooze button and spend a few more minutes in bed or colds and sniffles are coming one after another read on and see our 5 top tips to set yourself up for a healthier winter.

1. Switch your 6am coffee to warm water with fresh lemon, apple cider vinegar and Manuka honey. Not only does it help to rehydrate the body after a nights sleep, it also flushes the digestive system and sets you up for the day ahead.

2. While sipping your lemon water take 10 minutes to yourself for some simple mindfulness. Find somewhere quiet. If meditation doesn't come naturally to you just sit in a comfortable position and spend a few minutes with yourself and your breath. Visualising the breath entering and leaving the body, if you find the mind wandering refocus on your breathing. Another great morning exercise is journaling. Grabbing a notebook and a pen and just writing. Anything and everything. What happened yesterday, what's happening today, what are you grateful for right now. It doesn't have to be a novel just a few lines is enough. And start the day fresh and ready to tackle the world!

3. Seek out seasonal foods and add them to your daily diet. An obvious choice for October is pumpkinbut other veggies like butternut squash, beets and celeriac are all in abundance right now. Try roasting in some coconut oil for a side dish or blending into a warming soup as the colder days set in.

4. Exercise! The mornings may be a little darker and colder but there are so many benefits to daily exercise. You don't have to spend hours in the gym, a brisk 30 minute walk, a 20 minute HIIT session, your favourite yoga class. It all counts! Regular exercise can make you feel happier. It helps increase the energy levels and can lead to better skin health! What's not to love?

5. And lastly if it all becomes too much book a relaxing retreat in the sun and escape the impending winter. A last bit of sunshine, the perfect chance to reset the body and get it in tip top shape to combat those winter blues before they even start!!! For YS retreat details click here
